Membership Meeting Minutes

Vice
President Linda Daniel called the meeting to order at 12:23 pm at the AFL-CIO
Bldg. Brother Al Garcia led the Pledge of Allegiance. There was a roll call of the officers by Cory L.
Purifoy. There was a quorum.
Excused
Absent: Abdul Essa

Absent: Joe Aaron and George Roman
1. The General Membership Minutes from May were provided to the members for review and questions. A motion was made by Brother Al Garcia to accept the minutes from May. (Motion passed) 2. The Financial Report from May and June was provided to the members for review and questions. A motion was made by Brother Al Garcia to accept the Financial Report from May and June. (Motion passed)
3.
The Executive Board brought forth a request before the
General Membership that the local authorize voting incentives as part of the
“National Get Out to Vote Drive” through incorporating (5) $100 drawings.
(Motion passed)
4.
The Executive Board brought forth a request before the
General Membership that the local increase the new member bounty from $50 to $100
as an attractive method of getting new members to sign up until the end of the
year. (Motion passed)
5.
The Executive Board brought forth a request before the
General Membership that the local pay up to 16hrs of Union LWOP per trustee to assist
with moving to the new local’s office. (Motion passed)
6.
President
Roberts asked for a “moment of silence” to recognize the unexpected loss of
Brother Terry Schwall and Brother Charlie Pink Jr.
7.
A
motion was made and seconded that the local provide a nomination process for
alternates “Clerk Craft Only” to attend the upcoming National Convention.
(Motion passed)
8.
Nominations
were accepted for alternates to attend the National Convention. Alternates are
as follows: (1) John Castillo (2) Christina Castillo (3) Gail Young (4) Nathan
Young (5) Toni Wilson (6) Natalie Watson.
9.
Trustee
reported that the local would save $800 a month in rent by moving to a smaller
office.
10.
There
was a discussion about Function 4.
11.
There
was a discussion about Union representation.
12.
There was a discussion about management’s
initiative to defer and delay grievances.
13.
There was a discussion about the National
Reassessment Process (NRP). Currently, a National level EEO is pending on
possible USPS violations involving Limited Duty/Permanent Rehabilitation
employees.
14.
Vice President Linda Daniel reports that the
local intends to sell its old office furniture in order to reduce inventory.

Bro. Roy Vasquez reports that the local
presented a check in the amount $1000 for COPA during the Texas Postal Workers
Educational Conference in
16.
There was a discussion about “Stand By” time.
17.
There
was a discussion about how major mailers are attempting to blame the workforce
for the recent request to increase postage rates.
18.
President Roberts took a moment to recognize
Brother Ben Solis who is currently a candidate for Motor Vehicle Craft NBA.
19.
There was a discussion about the local
picketing.
