Executive Board Meeting Minutes

10/16/10

 

President Larry Roberts called the meeting to order at 11:10 am at the AFL-CIO Bldg. There was a roll call of the officers by Secretary Cory L. Purifoy. There was a quorum.

 

Excused Absent: Raymond Thompson, Leonard Lara

 

Unexcused Absent: George Roman

 

New Business:

 

 

  1. The Executive Board Minutes from September were distributed for review and questions.  A motion was made and seconded to accept the Executive Board Minutes from September. (Motion passed)

 

  1. A motion was made and seconded for the local to purchase (20) turkeys for November, and (15) turkeys, (10) hams, and (1) chicken or hen for December. (Motion passed)

 

  1. A motion was made for the local to budget up to $6,500 for the APWU Annual Christmas Party. (Motion passed)

 

  1. Sister Cathy Robbins led a discussion about the local possibly collecting canned goods during the APWU Christmas Party to distribute to the Austin Area Food Bank.

 

  1. President Roberts discussed the unofficial results from the APWU National Elections. He warned that a rerun of the election could be imminent.

 

  1. There was a discussion about various Republican Party members creating negative publicity about postal workers through the media. 

 

  1. There was a discussion about the current negotiations between the APWU and USPS.

 

  1. There was a discussion about future changes within the General Mail Facility.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. There was a discussion about the recent rumors surfacing about the CFS Unit. No official notice has been given to the APWU about the USPS desire to cease CFS operations in Austin. The USPS must provide a minimum of 60 days notice to the APWU about upcoming changes.

 

  1. Brother Jesse Benavides asked that the Executive Board postpone discussions about merging Bastrop, Texas and Hutto, Texas Post Offices until next month.

 

 

A motion was made to adjourn.
