Executive Board Meeting Minutes

August 20, 2011

 

President Larry Roberts called the meeting to order at 11:15 a.m. at the AFL-CIO Bldg. There was a roll call of the officers by Secretary Jacque Brock. There was a quorum.

 

Excused Absent: Lanelle Chernosky

Unexcused Absent: N/A

 

New Business:           

1.      The Executive Board Minutes from July were distributed for review and       questions. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Executive Board Minutes (Motion Passed)

 

These items were discussed:

1.      A motion was made to appoint Joe Aaron to Asst. Maint. Craft/Custodian. Motion was tabled until Sept. meeting.

2.      Closing of Waco and the division of the mail between Austin and Ft. Worth.

3.      Union busting legislation. How our unions are being targeted by the Republicans

4.      Opening up of Local Negotiations Sept. 1-30.

5.      The merging of Hutto and Bastrop with our local. To be voted on in Sept. meeting

6.      Motion was made and seconded not to pay steward bounties for new members. (Motion failed)

7.      A motion was made and seconded not  to pay bounties/rebates until after the 90 day probation period of the new member. (Motion passed)

8.      There was a discussion about the PSE’s and the 2 hour guarantee.

9.      There was a discussion about the “No Layoff Clause” and backing out of collective bargaining.

10.  There was a discussion on reassignments, excessing and residual vacancies.

11.  There was a discussion about maintenance, labor mgmt. and MS47 staffing.

12.  There was a discussion on access to the union cubicle.

13.  There was a discussion about the Trial Board hearing and the criteria and issue of charges.

 

 

 

A motion was made to adjourn.

 

Meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
