General Membership Meeting Minutes

4/17/10

President Larry Roberts called the meeting to order at 11:08 am at the AFL-CIO Bldg followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There was a roll call of the officers by Brother John Castillo. There was a

quorum.

Excused Absent: Cory L. Purifoy, John Mercado, Raymond Thompson, Cathy Robbins, and Monte Lane

Unexcused Absent: George Roman

1. President Larry Roberts introduced Austin’s National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) local President Bob Bishop and thanked him for his attendance at our meeting.
 
2. The General Membership Minutes from March were provided to the members for review and questions. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from March. (Motion passed)
 
3. The Financial Report from March was provided to the members for review and questions. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Financial Report from March. (Motion passed)
 

4. The Executive Board brought forth a request before the General Membership that the local spend up to $5,000 for the cost of 400 local #299 t-shirts. (Motion passed)

5. The Executive Board brought forth a request before the General Membership that the local spend up to $500 for local #299 lapel pins. (Motion passed)

6. The Executive Board brought forth a request before the General Membership that the local spend $200 for the entry fee for the “Austin Aces” softball team in the Annual Memorial Post Office Softball Tournament. (Motion passed)

7. The Executive Board brought forth a request before the General Membership to accept the “merger” of Lockhart into the Austin Local. (Motion passed)

8. President Larry Roberts discussed the National Reassessment Program (NRP) issues and answered questions from the membership.

9. President Larry Roberts discussed “staffing” issues as well as “incidental leave” protocol.

10. A motion was made to accept New Members: David Sherman, Donna Bandow, Paul Soto, and Karen Hall. (Motion passed)
