Membership Meeting
October
20, 2007
President
Roberts called the meeting to order at 12:05pm at the AFL-CIO building. There
was a quorum. A tape recorder was not used.
Brother George Roman led the Pledge of Allegiance. There was a roll call
of the officers.
A
moment of silence was observed for members Phil Molina, Larry Addy, (retiree)
and Milton Berry (retiree).
A
motion was made by Brother George Roman to change the regular order of business
to have a speaker talk to the membership about American Income Life
Insurance. Motion passed.
A
motion was made by Sister Cathy Robbins to accept the minutes of the September
General Membership Meeting. Motion
passed.
The
September Financial Report was passed out to the membership. A motion was made
by Sister Cathy Robbins to accept the report with a correction about check
#6117 which should be Las Vegas Craft Conference. Motion passed.
New
Business:
1.
A motion presented from the E-Board to have at the November General Meeting 25
turkeys and December General Meeting 20 turkeys, 15 hams, and 1 hen. Motion passed.
2.
A motion presented from the E-Board to spend up to $7000.00 on the Local’s
Christmas party on Dec. 16, 2007. Motion
passed.
3.
It was announced that the E-Board had certified two stewards, Brian Newman and
Carlos Vega.
4.
The following winners of the Get Out the Vote Drive
were paid $100.00 each: Al Garcia, Jesse
Benavides, David Hagy, Cliff Davis and Chris Marquez.
5.
There was a first reading of a constitutional amendment submitted by friends of
the local.
President
Roberts spoke about the great job Tour 3 Chief Steward Cory Purifoy did in
upgrading the Registry clerk at the GMF to a level 6, HR shared services,
thanks to Brother Roy Vasquez and Sister Linda Daniel for the success of the
Local picnic, safety & health issues, FMLA draft samples, and injured
employees. President Roberts stated that
the Local had made an offer on a building.
Health
Plan Director George Roman spoke on the APWU Health Plan and open season.
A
motion was made to accept new members.
Motion passed.
There
was no winner for the door prize, so the Nov. door prize will be $225.00
A
COPA drawing and auction raised $131.00
