General Membership Meeting

November 17, 2007

 

 

President Roberts called the meeting to order at 12:21 pm at the AFL-CIO building.  There was a roll call of the officers by Sister Cathy Robbins. 

 

Excused absent: John Mercado

Pledge of Allegiance

A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and seconded by Sister Linda Daniel to table the Executive Board minutes from October.  Motion passed.

 

Old Business:

1.      President Roberts spoke on the constitutional amendment, building vote, and the turkey giveaway.

2.      There was a discussion on the proper use of the APWU bulletin board.

 

New Business:

 

1.      Treasurer Dan Hillis reported on the building that the Local had made an offer on.  It is located at 12012 N. IH 35.  Treasurer Hillis stated that the building’s price was $350,000 and that the Local would put $100,000 down and finance $250,000 for 15 years.  Treasurer Hillis stated that the building needs to be inspected and if it passes, then the Local would like to purchase it.  But if the building did not pass inspection, the owner would have to fix the building or it would negate the offer.

2.  A motion was made by Brother George Roman and seconded by Brother Ben Solis to

     expend the building fund to purchase the building discussed by Brother Hillis. 

     Motion passed.

3.      President Roberts announced that Dec. 12 & 13 would be the date of the Christmas donuts.

 

Brother Roy Vasquez announced that the Christmas Party on Dec. 16 would be catered by either Texas Rib Kings or Bill Miller.

 

There was discussion on republishing the Local Constitution, the full-time President language and casuals at the GMF.

 

Meeting adjourned at 12:06 pm.
