General Membership Meeting

October 15, 2005

 

President Roberts called meeting to order at 12:10am at the AFL-CIO building.  A quorum was present and a tape recorder was used.  The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Brother George Roman.  Members present:  28.  The secretary made roll call of the officers.  All officers were present.  Brother Dan Hillis made a motion and second to change the regular order of business so the E-BD can meet.  Motion passes by the general membership.  A motion was made and second to have a supplement Orville Bennett scholarship award to the runners up at $250.00 a piece at a total of $500.00.  Motion passes by the E-BD.

 

The September general membership minutes were passed out to the membership.  A motion was made by Sister Cathy Robbins and second to accept the minutes.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The September financial report was passed out to the membership.  A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to accept the report.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

New Business:

  1. A motion was passed by the E-BD to have a supplement Orville Bennett Scholarship award to the runners up at $250.00 a piece at a total of $500.00.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The winners of the supplement award are Erik Johnson, son of members Timothy Smith and George Urch Jr., son of member George Urch.

  2. A motion was passed by the E-BD to have at the November meeting 20 turkeys and the December meeting 15 turkeys, 15 hams, and 1 chicken.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  3. A motion was passed by the E-BD to send up to 6 people to the TPWU multi-craft seminar in Fort Worth, Texas at $650.00 a piece with the President’s discretion.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

President Roberts spoke on the causal-in-lieu of settlement, casuals working at the Downtown and Balcones Stations.  Brother Roy Vasquez made a report about the golf tournament.  The membership discusses the T-shirts and aprons for the local.  A motion was made by Brother Robert Olvera and second to accept the new members.  Motion passes by the general membership.  Peter Salinas   Dora Garza   Oanh Chau   Adrienne Mckay

 

Door prize drawing was held and no winner for this month.  Next month $50.00.
