General Membership Meeting

September 17, 2005

 

President Roberts called meeting to order at 12:14pm at the AFL-CIO building.  A quorum was present and a tape recorder was used.  The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Brother George Roman.  Members present:  27.  The secretary made roll call of the officers.

Excused absent:  Cecil Reed and Cathy Robbins

 

The July general membership minutes were passed out to the membership.  A motion was made and second to accept the minutes.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The July and August financial report was passed out to the membership.  A motion was made and second to accept the July report.  Motion passes by the general membership.  A motion was made and second to accept the August report.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

A motion was made and second to change the regular order of business for the Orville Bennett Scholarship.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The winner of the Orville Bennett Scholarship is Tasha Pederson, daughter of member Gerald Pederson.  The winners of the $500.00 each supplement scholarship are Kathleen Gilmartin, daughter of members Sara Gilmartin and David Gilmartin; and Wesley Hackett, son of member Jo Hackett.  Congratulation to our scholarship winners!

 

 

 

New Business:

  1. A motion by the E-BD to combine the Installation Banquet, Christmas Party, and a training seminar on the weekend o December 17-18 and spend no more than $6000.00.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  2. A motion by the E-BD to give Brother George Roman a 2 day stipend at $300.00 to attend the Health Plan Seminar on October 19-21, 2005.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  3. A motion by the E-BD to donate $195.00 to the Austin Thunder Softball team for the Post Office State Tournament.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  4. A motion by the E-BD to re-supply the local’s T-shirts and aprons up to $2000.00.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

Discussion about Hurricane Katrina, the APS machine, causal-in-lieu of, and local negotiations.  A motion was made and second to accept the new members.  Motion passes by the general membership.  Sherry Draper   Lisa Lyttle   James Stevens
