General Membership Minutes

April 15, 2006

 

President Roberts called meeting to order at             12:03pm at the AFL-CIO building.  A quorum was present and a tape recorder was used.  The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Sister Peggy Stevens.  Members present:  25.  The secretary made roll call of the officers.

Excused absent:  Monte Lane, Jim Nettles, and George Roman

Unexcused absent:  Leonard Lara

 

The March general membership minutes were passed out to the membership.  A motion was made by Brother Robert Olvera and second to accept the minutes.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The March financial report was passed out to the membership.  A motion was made by Brother Robert Olvera and second to accept the report.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

New Business:

  1. Motion pass by the E-BD to set aside $10,000.00 war chest fund for ads, picketing, and media about the Postal Consolidations.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  2. Motion pass by the E-BD to apply $500.00 seed money for Tony Nunez fundraiser.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  3. Motion pass by the E-BD to donate $100.00 to the Salvation Army in behalf of Brother Jeff Regal of fixing the union’s computers.  Motion passes by the general membership

 

President Roberts talked about the security gate system, safety issues, FMLA, bid jobs, steward training, the settlement causal-in-lieu of, union appointments, hiring of 10 clerks, and information picketing.  Sister Cathy Robbins spoke on the AFL-CIO Labor Council meeting.  Also, Brother Roy Vasquez said the trustees would be doing the audit on May 22, 2006. 

 

A motion was made and second to accept the new members.  Motion passes by the general membership.   Pete Rallo      Gail Cummings
