General Membership Minutes

March 18, 2006

 

President Roberts called meeting to order at 12:13pm at the AFL-CIO building.  A quorum was present and a tape recorder was used.  The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Brother George Roman.  Members present:  29.  The secretary made roll call of the officers.

Excused absent:  Cathy Robbins and Monte Lane

Unexcused absent:  Cecil Reed

 

The February general membership minutes were passed out to the membership.  A motion made by Brother Ben Solis and second to accept the minutes.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The February financial report was passed out to the membership.  A motion made by Brother George Roman and second to accept the report.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

New Business:

  1. Motion pass by the E-BD to send 6 clerks, 2 maintenance, 1 motor vehicle, and the President to the 2006 APWU National Convention at $2000.00 each.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  2. A motion made by Brother Ben Solis and second that if anyone who wishes to attend the 2006 APWU National Convention, as a non-paid delegates will be seated as a delegate.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  3. Motion pass by the E-BD to put a $65.00 deposit for the APWU picnic at the Richard Moya Park.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  4. Motion pass by the E-BD to donate $500.00 to the ACS East Austin Relay for Life.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  5. Motion pass by the E-BD to donate $500.00 to the Williamson Crisis Center.  Motion passes by the general membership.

  6. Motion pass by the E-BD to have a membership drive with a drawing to Las Vegas for 2 not to exceed $800.00 cash to be awarded at the September meeting.  Motion passes by the general membership.

 

A motion was made by Sister Peggy Stevens and second to change the regular order of business to hear from our guests, Dr. Rock Chiropractic about health wellness.

President Roberts talked about the Postal Transformation, light and limited duty, clerk jurisdiction, jobs at the stations, casuals, and being disrespected by the supervisors.  We had a COPA drawing and the winners are:  J Benevides- $35.00    B McLellan- $20.00.  Money raised for COPA was $55.00.  Door prize drawing:  L Guerrero   J Vega   D Lindbergh    N Young    S Smith   R Kastner   RL Smith   G Renteria    R Davis   A Phynon    M Loaiza    R O’Brien    H Villanueva    B Gilardi    V Clawson   C Reed
