E-BD Minutes

October 21, 2006


President Roberts called meeting to order at 11:15am at the AFL-CIO building. The secretary made roll call of the officers.

Excused absent: Willie Sugg, George Roman, and Leonard Lara


The September E-BD minutes were passed out to the officers. A motion was made by Brother Calvin Smith and second to accept the minutes. Motion pass.


Unfinished Business:

  1. A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to spend up to $5000.00 on the Christmas party. Motion pass.

  2. The officers talked about a union building.


New Business:

  1. Sister Patricia Mercado made a motion and second to have 25 turkeys for the November give away. A friendly amended was to add 1 chicken. An addition amended to add 2 chickens. A vote was taken and the amendment to add 2 chickens failed. The original motion with the amendment to add 1 chicken passed.

  2. Sister Linda Daniel made a motion and second to have 10 hams, 15 turkeys, and 1 chicken for the December give away. Motion pass.

  3. A motion was made by Sister Linda Daniel and second to increase the Koman Foundation donation by $200.00 with a total of $500.00. Motion pass.

  4. The union recognition day will be on October 26, 2006 at the Austin GMF Plant and stations. Everyone will wear the APWU t-shirt.

  5. President Roberts brought forward names for stewards: Motor Vehicle- Ronnie Morris and Gerald Reichl Jr. and Maintenance- Herb Perrydore. The E-BD accepted the appointments.

  6. Sister Cathy Robbins spoke on Austin Area Local’s dues to the AFL-CIO Labor Council.
