E-BD Minutes

September 16, 2006


President Roberts called meeting to order at 11:10am at the AFL-CIO building. The secretary made roll call of officers.

Excused absent: Calvin Smith, Willie Sugg, Linda Daniel, Cathy Robbins, Monte Lane, and Leonard Lara


The July E-BD minutes were passed out to the officers. The NB#2 needs to be adhering to the constitution at $500.00, which was given at the APWU National Convention for the Texas hospitality. A motion was made and second to accept the minutes. Motion pass.


Old Business:

  1. Brother Ben Solis spoke on the fundraiser for Brother Tony Nunez which $3721.84 was raised at the event.


New Business:

  1. A motion was made by Brother George Roman and second to spend up to $600.00 for Brother Harry James to put on a Worker Compensation seminar at a future date. Motion pass.

  2. Brother Dan Hillis spoke about the IRS audit. A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to pay Brother Dan Hillis up to 40 hours of LWOP for the IRS audit. Motion pass.

  3. The officers talked about purchasing a building. A motion was made by Brother Dan Hillis and second to spend up to $7000.00 to prepare a feasibility report for the future building for the local. Motion pass. President Roberts will prepare a letter for the referendum vote for the membership.

  4. A motion was made by Brother George Roman and second to spend up to $200.00 a month to pay Mrs. Jeff Regal to keep up the local web site. Motion pass.

  5. President Roberts spoke about having a picket on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 11am at the GMF.

  6. A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to add $300.00 more to the expense of the Tony Nunez fundraiser. Motion pass.

  7. A motion was made by Sister Linda Daniel and second to donate $300.00 for the “Race for the Cure” for the Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. Motion pass.

  8. A motion was made by Brother George Roman and second to give him a $300.00 stipend for 2 days to attend a 4 day APWU Health Plan Seminar. Motion pass.
