E-BD Minutes

July 15, 2006


President Roberts called meeting to order at 11:08am at the AFL-CIO building. The secretary made roll call of officers.

Excused absent: Calvin Smith, Willie Sugg, Joe Aaron, and George Roman

Unexcused absent: Cecil Reed


The June E-BD minutes were passed out to the officers. A motion was made by Brother Dan Hillis and second to accept the minutes. Motion pass.


Unfinished Business:

  1. The picnic will be October 15, 2006 at 10am to 6pm. Food will be served at 1pm-3pm. A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to spend up to $4000.00 on the picnic. Motion pass.

  2. Brother Roy Vasquez spoke about a union building.


New Business:

  1. A motion was made by Sister Cathy Robbins to change Brother Monte Lane unexcused absents for the months of May and June to excused absent. Motion pass.

  2. A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to donate $300.00 to the TPWU hospitality at the APWU National Convention. Motion pass.

  3. A motion was made by Brother Roy Vasquez and second to donate $400.00 to the golf tournament. Motion pass.

  4. A motion was made by Brother Dan Hillis and second to pay up to $200.00 for an ad in the AFL-CIO Labor Day booklet. Motion pass.

  5. A motion was made by Brother Ben Solis and second to pay a $300.00 deposit for the building for the Christmas party. Motion pass.


President Roberts spoke on the National Convention, Austin Area Local being selected for the TPWU multi-craft seminar in February 2007, Austin Area Local web site, and issues affecting the Plant. Sister Cathy Robbins spoke on labor issues, endorsement of candidates, Labor Day weekend activities, FMLA, and affording housing.


Meeting adjourned at 12 noon.
