General Membership Minutes

July 15, 2006


President Roberts called meeting to order at 12:15pm at the AFL-CIO building. A quorum was present and a tape recorder was used. The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Brother Robert Olvera. Members present: 29. The secretary made roll call of the officers.

Excused absent: Calvin Smith, Willie Sugg, Joe Aaron, and George Roman

Unexcused absent: Cecil Reed


The June general membership minutes were passed out to the membership. A motion was made by Brother Olvera and second to accept the minutes. Motion passed by the general membership. The June financial report was passed out to the membership. A motion was made by Brother Robert Olvera and second to accept the report. Motion passed by the general membership.


New Business:

  1. A motion passes by the E-BD to donate $300.00 to the TPWU hospitality at the APWU National Convention. Motion passed by the general membership.

  2. A motion passes by the E-BD to donate $400.00 to the golf tournament. Discussion among the membership. Motion passed by the general membership.

  3. A motion passes by the E-BD to pay up to $200.00 for an ad in the Labor Day AFL-CIO booklet. Motion passed by the general membership.

  4. A motion passes by the E-BD to pay up to $4000.00 toward the picnic on October 15, 2006. Motion passed by the general membership.

  5. A motion passes by the E-BD to pay a $300.00 deposit for the building for the Christmas party. Motion passed by the general membership.


Sister Cathy Robbins spoke about the Labor Day activities and labor issues. President Roberts spoke about the new plant manager, district manager, the area VP, the induction on the AFSM 100, tray sorting machine, FMLA, grievance settlement causal-in-lieu of, CFS mail, and the annex.
