General Membership Minutes

May 27, 2006

 

President Roberts called meeting to order at 12:16pm at the AFL-CIO building.  A quorum was present and a tape recorder was used.  The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Brother George Roman.  Members present:  28.  The secretary made roll call of the officers.

Excused absent:  Ben Solis, Willie Sugg, Linda Daniel, Cecil Reed, and Leonard Lara

Unexcused absent:  Cathy Robbins and Monte Lane

 

The April general membership minutes were passed out to the membership.  A motion was made by Brother Calvin Smith and second to accept the minutes.  Motion passes by the general membership.  The April financial report was passed out to the membership.  A motion was made by Brother George Roman and second to accept the report.  Motion passes by the general membership.  A moment of silence for member Brother Jose Martinez, who pass away this morning.  President Roberts thanked everyone for being so nice to him doing the death of his brother.  Sister Peggy Stevens spoke on the death of her father, who was an activist in APWU.

 

New Business:

  1. A motion was pass by the E-BD to donate $700.00 to the Texas Mustang, a group of underprivileged children.  Motion passes by the general membership

 

President Roberts spoke about the moving of personnel, FMLA, the annex, safety issues, staffing, information picketing, the security gate, light/limited duty employees, COPA, PTF conversions, grievances, and handicap parking.  He also mention that the T-Shirts are in.  A motion was made and second to accept the new members.  Motion passes by the general membership.  Richard Garcia    Edna Wilson-Dugue   John Harris   Kevin Laviolette   Claudia Cantu    Tham Sellers   

 

The door prize drawing for April was held:  J Rios   C Colvin   G Kersey   P Minjarez

A COPA drawing was held.  Sister Penny Jones- $30.00   Brother John Mercado- $15.00
